How it works
Here's exactly what happens after your doctor refers you to Facet — step by step.
The patient journey, in depth
When your doctor refers you to Facet, we receive everything we need to get started — your clinical history, the reason for the referral, and your contact information. You don't need to do anything yet.
You'll receive a text or email from Facet, usually the same day your referral is received. From there, you'll choose your appointment time first, then complete a short intake form before your visit. Most patients finish intake in about ten minutes.
Inside your portal, you'll browse available specialists in your referred area. You can filter by focus area, gender, and language preference. Take your time — the right fit matters.
Once you've chosen your specialist, our Care Coordination team handles the rest — confirming your appointment, retrieving any prior records, and making sure your specialist has everything they need before your visit.
Before your appointment time, you'll receive a secure video link. Your specialist will have reviewed your records in advance. The visit averages 30 minutes for an initial consult, 20 minutes for returning patients — enough time to go over your history, ask questions, and get real answers. No waiting room, no travel, no rushed encounter.
After your visit, two things happen: you'll receive a plain-language summary of what your specialist found and recommended — written clearly, without clinical shorthand. And your referring doctor receives a formal consult note, typically within 24 hours. Your whole care team stays informed.
Before your visit
You'll enter this during intake. We'll verify your coverage before your visit so there are no surprises.
Your visit is confidential. Find somewhere comfortable with a stable internet connection — your home, your office, anywhere that works for you.
If you take any medications, have the names and dosages handy. Your specialist will likely ask.
If your doctor has ordered relevant labs or imaging, our Care Coordination team will retrieve these on your behalf. If you have records from other providers, let us know during intake.
Your technology
You'll receive a secure video link before your appointment — by text or email. Click it on any smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera. That's it. No download required, no account to create, no technical setup.
If anything isn't working before your visit, our Care Coordination team is available to help.
